ZUBEROA (MONUMENTAL HERITAGE)

Private water benders.

Louis Colas in his work La Tombe Basque (Biarritz, 1923) says the following: "A curious peculiarity of Suletin houses is that of having bendieras generally placed on the wall, either at the height of the first floor, or on the plateau that divides The staircase that leads to the first floor is divided into two parts. The decoration of these blessings reproduces the usual motifs of Basque ornamentation: fleurs-de-lys, stars, stylized plant motifs, denticles and other details with a purely geometric layout. The monstrance almost always crowns the font that contains the holy water. I have rarely found the equivalent of these blessings in Navarrese and La Burdino houses, and in such cases they are devoid of any decoration".
