ZUBEROA (MONUMENTAL HERITAGE)

Berraute today.

Reading this description of the church from the beginning of the century, or contemplating photos from the same period, we are perplexed by the "lightness" of those who let disappear, in such a short time, a monument that had been respected for so many centuries. The loss was about to be irremediable since, in 1910, the porch and the nave were destroyed, leaving only the apse, and in 1983 the wind blew away its cover. This catastrophe was providential as the Maulon council then decided to save what was left of the venerable church. In 1983 the renovation of the roof and the consolidation of the vault and the walls were finished. In its session on November 24, 1983, the city council unanimously decided to finish saving the building and on November 9, 1984, it joined the inventory of historical monuments.
