ZUBEROA (MONUMENTAL HERITAGE)

The church of Santa Engracia.

This church, classified as a historical monument in 1841, is a building from the second half of the s. XII. The façade is quite striking in its asymmetrical simplicity, with a long roof reaching up to the bell tower. The massive buttresses were readjusted during the restoration of 1864, as was the sacristy located behind the head. In the portico there are still two capitals representing the pilgrims of Emmaus, standing, with cane in hand, then at the table, breaking bread with Christ. The tympanum sports a round crism held by two angels. The interior consists of three naves, without a transept, divided into four sections, extended by an apse and semicircular apses. The plan is reminiscent of Sainte-Croix de Olor n. The vaults are Romanesque, barrel vaulted, reinforced by double arches, the apses are oven vaults. The vaults of the apses and collaterals are underlined by a cornice with three rows of banknotes.
