Las primeras creaciones arquitectónicas más representativas de este período en el territorio de Euskal Herria fueron las construcciones megalíticas, tanto por su número y variedad -dolmen, crómlech y menhir- y su prolongación en el tiempo -ya que se continuaron realizando incluso en la Edad de los Metales-, como por ser las primeras construcciones arquitectónicas que encontramos en las que existe un concepto del espacio predeterminado y su diseño está concebido con un objetivo, más que práctico, simbólico. Este tipo de construcciones llegaron desde el norte de Europa y estuvieron relacionadas con nuevas formas de vida vinculadas al pastoreo.

No es fácil escribir una historia de la escultura en unos períodos históricos en los cuales el término no existía. El concepto de escultura es relativamente moderno, ya que hasta el Renacimiento no se habla en términos de escultura para referirse a la actividad artística que trata del volumen de tres dimensiones en el espacio. Las distintas técnicas utilizadas, como la talla y la fundición se consideraban actividades diferentes y costó mucho trabajo unirlas bajo el concepto de escultura.

History of art. Painting

La historia de la pintura en el País Vasco es muy desigual. Entre la abundancia y calidad de la pintura en el Paleolítico y en la época contemporánea, se intercalan épocas menos fértiles ligadas a situaciones económicas y sociales más pobres.

A pesar de que el País Vasco no ha sido históricamente un lugar de grandes pintores, comparándolo con otros países con un desarrollo económico mayor, la dirección que tomó la evolución de la pintura a partir del siglo XV tendiendo hacia un soporte transportable, hizo que se trajeron al País Vasco numerosos cuadros que hoy en día lucen en iglesias y museos.
