Hondarribia (2003 version)

Return of part of La Rioja, Alava, and Guipúzcoa, including Fuenterrabía, to Navarra (1366–1368).

The civil war Pedro I and Henry of Trastamare allowed Charles II “the Bad” of Navarra to recover much of the Navarrese kingdom’s lands conquered by Castile. Pedro I promised at Livorno on September 23, 1366, the restitution of a series of towns, among which was Fuenterrabía. Consequently, and to counteract this, Henry promised the same at Santa Cruz de Campezo in January 1367. The following year, Charles achieved what had been promised. However, in 1373, papal arbitration forced the Navarrese king to abandon Alava and La Rioja, and in the subsequent war with Castile, the rest.
