Zumalakarregi, Tomas (1788-1835)

On the 15th, while in Begoña, he received a shot in the leg that would result in fatal consequences; he is torn life and death, cared for by various doctors -Grediaga, Gelos, Beliqui, Burgess- and, at his express wish, by the healer "Petrikillo". One last interview with D. Carlos, whose person and environment he dislikes, is nothing more than tepid. Heat, hustle and bustle, infection, ended in septicemia otanos, dying in Zegama on June 25, 1835, at the age of 47. Subsequently, the general's head was sent to England, (where it remains), to be studied by experts, as was the custom at the time with prominent personalities.
