Zumalakarregi, Tomas (1788-1835)

When Ferdinand VII died, he was faced with the dilemma of loyalties, on which his situation must have weighed. This is how Villalba (1897) considers it when he describes it:

"Very strong heart, creative understanding for strategy, iron will and condition very susceptible to injury. Zumalac rregui was a man of care. His family affections and his own inclinations led him towards freedom, which he served with great decision his brother D. Miguel; injustice led him to the Carlist camp".

On November 2, 1833, he surreptitiously left the city, receiving the appointment of General Commander of Navarre on the 14th after swearing "adhesion to the Fueros y Leyes de Navarra".
