ZUBEROA (MONUMENTAL HERITAGE)

Saint Blaise hospital.

The first route described by the "Pilgrim's Guide" passed, as we have seen, through Toulouse, Lescar, Olorán, the Somport pass, the Santa Cristina hospital and Jaca, before reaching the other routes at Puente la Reina.  There was a secondary road, after Lescar, which passed through La Commande, Lucq-de-Barn and L'Hôpital-Saint-Blaise, and made it possible to reach Ostabat by crossing Zuberoa along the roads already described. In the Middle Ages, in the Saint-Blaise hospital, there was a command called "of Mercy", of which only the church, built towards the end of the s. XII or in the s. XIII, classified as a historical monument in 1888 and restored in 1904. Nothing is known about its foundation but it is thought that it could be due to the Augustinians from the abbey of Santa Cristina in Aragon.
