Zarautz. The convent of San Juan Bautista de Zarauz was founded in 1610 and converted into the College of Apostolic Missionaries in 1746 without being closed due to the exclaustration of 1835 until 1840. It was the last to surrender and also in the subsequent dethronement of Isabel II. After the civil war of 1876, it was the first to open not only as a formal community with foreign habit, but also as a Guardian and with a full-fledged Novitiate (August 21, 1878). It has been considered one of the main ones in the province. In 1933 there were 15 priests, 23 choir novices and 13 laymen and donates. [Ref. Fray Juan Ruiz de Larrnaga.]
