Gayarre Garjón, Sebastián Julián

He made his debut in Paris, at the Los Italianos theater, in the second half of February 1884, with Lucrecia Borgia , accompanied by the Spanish artist Carolina de Cepeda. At the end, the public stood up, applauded deliriously. The press with its critics gave the verdict that consecrated the artist before the whole of Paris. "Le Figaro" published an extensive chronicle. Critics like Víctor Roger. Leon Kerst, August Vitu, surrendered to Gayarre's art. The triumph continued. Gayarre had the key to all the salons in the capital of France. Le n Kerst wrote: "Gayarre and Patti are the two artists who share the empire of the rich worlds...". He sang at the house of the master Gounod who embraced him, moved, when he heard some of his works. The season continued with Los Puritanos and then Lucía . Then several Rigoletto nights.

A performance was attended by Víctor Hugo, now an illustrious old man, with his grandchildren. Gayarre considered this the greatest of his triumphs.

The great party that "Le Figaro" organized in honor of Gayarre was great. The guests were the Parisian flower in talent, letters and arts. This dream was the ninth that the newspaper "Le Figaro" gave in its sumptuous writing. The previous ones had been in honor of crowned heads or aspirants to a throne. The music critic Augusto Vitu explained the reason for this reception: "Because Mr. Gayarre is the King of singing". Gayarre sang the most selected pieces from his repertoire at this meeting. The next day the newspaper published a supplement with the news of the party and the photos of the singer and all the guests. He said goodbye to Paris with a benefit concert for the Association for Mutual Aid among Dramatic Artists, in the Trocadero hall. Sarah-Bernhard, Judit, the Coquelins, Delaunay, Saint-Germain and the famous violinist Sibory performed. Gayarre sang what the public wanted. The artists, at the end, presented him with a commemorative gold medal and the diploma naming him as an individual of the Association. Gayarre left the Trocadero to the waving of handkerchiefs and the cheers of the people in the street.
