1728-1785
Founded by Royal Decree of September 25, 1728, this trading company is the best example of a privileged joint-stock company of the 18th century in Spain. Firstly, it was the longest-running joint-stock trading company of the 18th century. Secondly, it was the one established with the highest capital of its time. Finally, among the privileged trading companies, it was the one with the highest turnover (with a turnover of 150,000 tons), far exceeding other contemporaneous companies, such as the Barcelona company (which barely exceeded 6,000 tons).
