Death of Don Carlos, January 1, 1387. When this happened, at 38 years of reign and 55 years of age, the prince was in Castile, leaving as governors the bishop of Bayonne, D. García de Eugui and the lieutenant of Navarre, Carlos de Beaumont. Carlos died in the palace of San Pedro or del Obispo (current Military Government); his viscera were divided Uju (heart) and Roncesvalles (intestines) and his embalmed body was buried in the choir of the cathedral of Pamplona.
