Monarchy and Nobility

Charles II of Navarre the Bad

Pact with Enrique de Trastamara, April 25, 1364. It took place in Tudela the Navarrese representative, Juan Remérez de Arellano and the Castilian Pedro Díaz. To guarantee non-aggression, Charles II had to give his nephew Carlos, son of D. Luis, as well as the sons of some Navarrese nobles as ages. The Castilian, in turn, gave his daughter D. Leonor and other nobles. However, the Navarrese did not commit to making war on Pedro "The Cruel", Enrique's enemy. His attention was fixed on Normandy, where his brother D. Felipe had died, and where the French were breaking in with blood and fire.
