Mendiaga
Born in Aramaio (lava) on September 27, 1949.
Graduate in Business Administration from ESTE in Donostia-San Sebastián (1972) and in Economics from the University of Deusto (1979). Lives in Arrasate.
At ESTE, he began his exploration of the Basque language and has been involved in literary production in that language ever since. 1973 and 1976, he worked as a teacher at the Gau Eskola in Arrasate.
After working for other companies, in 1975 he began working at Uni n Cerrajera , SA, in Arrasate, where he was appointed director in 1987.
First Deputy Minister of Culture of the Basque Government (1983-1985), member of the Basque Language Advisory Council (1983), corresponding member of Euskaltzaindia (1983), one of the founders of the Basque Language Writers Association, its first secretary (1981) and president of the association 1985 and 1989, member of the RSBAP (1988), Favorite Son of Aramaio (1998).
Managing Director of Eusko Ikaskuntza - Basque Studies Society 1994 and 2010.
In 1974, he began publishing his first articles in Basque for Zeruko Argia under the pseudonym Mendiaga . He has subsequently contributed to virtually all of the Basque Country's newspapers and magazines, as well as to some media outlets elsewhere. He has published numerous articles, most of which deal with Basque culture.
In 1976 he won the second "Ciudad de Irun" prize with the short story Epaia.

Promoter and direct collaborator of projects such as Arrasate Press and Arrasate Telebista. He promoted the creation of the Eusko Ikaskunta foundations: the Asmoz Foundation and the Euskomedia Foundation.
Founder in 1998 of Euskonews , the electronic magazine of Eusko Ikaskuntza, of which he was director until 2014.
