NALDA, Luis Benito

Nalda II. Handball player born on July 28, 1945, in the Riojan town of Tricio. At the age of 10, he moved with his parents to Otxandio (Bizkaia), where he settled into playing pelota. During his stay in Barcelona for study reasons, he played for the Catalan Federation for four years. Playing for the Alavesa Federation, he finished runner-up and Spanish champion in two successive years in the handball pairs category. In 1966, he was proclaimed world handball pairs champion in Uruguay, accompanied by Madrid. He made his professional debut on February 13, 1967, at the Frontón Municipal de Vitoria. A second-category handball champion in 1969, he switched to playing with aces.
