Mogrobejo Ladrero, Endika de

Cartoonist and publicist. Born in Bilbao on March 2, 1942 (great-great-grandson of the famous sculptor).

He learned Basque at the ikastolas of San Ant n, Bego aspi and Euskerazaleak in his hometown. He studied for four years at the School of Arts and Artistic Trades in Atxuri, with Don José San Sebastián, obtaining a degree in painting and copying, with a grade of notable. He also studied to be a draughtsman and designer, a position he held for 19 years in an engineering firm in Bilbao.

In 1971 he specialized in Genealogy, Heraldry and Nobility research. In 1979 he completed three undergraduate courses at the "School of Genealogy and Heraldry of Luis de Salazar y Castro" in Madrid, which belongs to the Higher Council for Scientific Research; for this reason he also joined the Association of Graduates of Genealogy, Heraldry and Nobility, as well as the Royal Basque Society of Friends of the Country. He has collaborated in numerous publications, such as "Txistulari", "Zeruko Argia", "Dantzari", "Anaitasuna", "Kili-Kili", "Agur", "The Great Basque Encyclopedia", etc. and cultural programs of his specialty on Radio Bilbao (Ser) and Radio Popular de Bilbao (Cope), as well as in the Bilbao newspapers "Deia" and "La Gaceta del Norte", having carried out during these years genealogical and heraldic work on numerous personalities from the political and cultural life of the country.

He is the author of Capitulares historiadas vascas, included in the work of Luis Col s "Graf a, Ornamentaci ny Simbolog as Vascas" and also containing an Alphabet of Basque letters, later taken by the Bilbao firm "Tecnigraf" to Letraset. Since 1978 he has also held several exhibitions on three occasions in Bilbao, two at the "Caja de Ahorros Vizca na" Hall and in 1981 an anthological one at the "Arteta" Hall; two more in the Hall of the "Caja de Ahorros Provincial de Alaba" in Gasteiz, and another in the Hall of the "Caja de Ahorros de "La Rioja" in Logroño. His daily life as a researcher is shared in part with the work of a writer in the biographical history of surnames and in local history, and we owe to his pen the works recently published last year of 1987 "Ere o'ko Elizatearen Kondaira"; "Lezama'ko Elizatearen Kondaira" and "Sondika'ko Elizatearen Kondaira".

Having also carried out the local histories of Getxo, Lemona, Zeberio, Gatika, Igorre, Sopelana, Geenika, Garai, Karrantza, Muskiz, Berriz, Mendexa, Amoroto, Maruri, etc., as well as the research of Municipal Heraldry of numerous town councils of the Seor and outside it. Also by the same author are the "Etymological Dictionary of Basque Surnames Euskal Abizenen Itzerrozko Hiztegia", two editions (1982-1987) and the collection in progress of publication "Genealogy and Heraldry Notebooks" (1986-1988). He collaborated on the "Basque Onomistic and Heraldic Dictionary", 7 volumes, with Father Jaime de Kerexeta, contributing more than 5,000 full-colour coats of arms. His latest works are "Euskadiko Armarriak-Armer a de Euskadi" and "The Zuloagas, a dynasty of Artists".
