He studied high school in Bilbao and graduated in law from the University of Madrid. His name and work are cited in various anthologies, both national and international, given their length and quality. His work has also been translated into English, Italian, French, and Portuguese. He has published around one hundred books of poetry, essays, anthologies, aphorisms, and art criticism, as well as more than five hundred contributions to magazines.
Among his works we will mention: Ansia en vida , The soul and the senses , The roots of the spirit , Existence in time , Chronicler of the present , The wounds of a people , Race of gods , The sun of the future , Learning in misery , Our testament , Beings with paper crowns , On the face of the heart , Season without crisis , The wisdom tooth , Guia rica de Vizcaya , The brushes of Vasconia , Rhymes , Homage to pain , Onager: Light of the image , Basque lyrical creators of today and Manual of barbarism (Pro-peace writings) ; Epic era , Genius, wit and bad temper ; Songs to death , Ego Diario-77 ; etc. His most notable works on the Basque theme include The Brushes of Vasconia (1974), Anthology of the Ray del Abra (1977), Basque Lyrical Creators (1977), Aurelio Arteta (1979), Arteta Our Painter (1979), El Baztán Verse by Verse (1985), and, in collaboration with R. de Zumelzu, the zarzuela entitled Itxasotarrak (1979). He has also written art criticism on a large number of Basque painters and writers.
He has received several awards, such as the "Villa de Bilbao" Poetry Prize (1970), finalist for the "Marina" Poetry Prize (1962), Honorable Mention at the "Amantes de Teruel" Prize (1972) and the "Ramón de Basterra" Prize (1974); the latter for his work Homage to Pain . He holds an Honorary Diploma from the Lyrical Committee of the Rosa Blanca Martiana of Argentina, and a Croix du Chevalier from Le Merite Nationale Fran ais. He is a "Cittadano Academico di Ducato di Vittoforita", Academic Titular of the "Casa do Poeta Garibaldi" of Portugal, Honorary President of the "Cristina y sus poetas" Association, and a corresponding academician at the "Academia di Pontzen" of Italy, etc. He was a member of the Spanish Association of Art Critics and the Collegiate Association of Writers of Spain.
