Iturbide Orduña, Emilio

Writer born in Peralta on July 10, 1915 and died in Pamplona on January 15, 1978.

Settled in the Navarrese capital since childhood, he studied Philosophy and Theology at the Pamplona Council Seminary until the start of the Civil War in 1936. Married to Maxi D az, they had four children. He was an official of the Pamplona City Council.

With deep religious convictions, he actively participated in Catholic works and institutions for which he wrote numerous articles and gave conferences inside and outside Navarra.

Gospel of Mary: Life of the Virgin, which went through three editions (1957, 1959, and 1966), as well as an abridged version printed in 1960. In 1964, the publishing house Chuoshuppansha of Tokyo released the Japanese translation of the full version of this work.

Most of her biographies appeared in the “Heroines” Series of Gómez Publishers in Pamplona. Teresita González Quevedo, the life of a young Carmelite of Charity from Madrid, reached two editions in its first year of publication (1956) with a print run of 11,000 copies; the sixth and final edition dates from 1983. From Marriage to the Glory of Bernini (1959), the life of Joaquina de Vedruna, founder of the Carmelite Sisters of Charity. Antoñita Bandrés: Religious of the Daughters of Jesus (1959). Love Said Yes (1961), biography of Luz Rodríguez Casanova, founder of the Institute of Apostolic Ladies; an abridged and illustrated version was published in 1963, with drawings by Francis Bartolozzi, under the title Doña Luz, Mother of the Poor. Sofía Rebold (1963), a nun of the Congregation of the Daughters of Mary Most Holy of the Garden; an abridged version (1965) was published under the title The Beautiful Roman.

Among her works of meditation are: Magníficat: Song of Humility and Love for the Virgin (1958), and The Hundredfold (1962), which had five editions. The latter is a reflection on charity throughout 118 texts inspired by the New Testament.
