Journey of Charles to Normandy and England, 1369-1370. After ascending to the throne of Trastamara, Charles found himself in the grip of the Franco-Castilian entente. To challenge the treaty of 1365, he went to Cherbourg in June 1369. Faced with the French's refusal, he went to Claredon (England, August 1370), where he met with Edward II, reaching a very substantial agreement (Rymer, vol. VI, p. 662), but which he did not want to be ratified by the Prince of Wales.
