Aguirre Gonzalo, José María (1977 version)

Civil Engineer (Roads, Canals and Ports). Born in San Sebastián on 12 August 1897. He was promoted to first-class chief engineer in 1952. Among the positions he held were: professor of “Business Organization” from 1939 at the Special School of Engineers; managing director of Agromán; chairman of the board of Siemens, Construcciones e Inmuebles, Investigaciones de la Construcción, Tecnicrom, YDE, Kynos, Antares, Mekel, Stentor, Treport, Tecnes, Venezuela; vice-president of the National Hydroelectric Company Ribagorzana; board member of the Banco Español de Crédito and the Banco Guipuzcoano, etc. He published numerous works on engineering, economics, banking, and sociology. He was president of the Banco Español de Crédito. On 16 February 1971, he received the Mahon Prize as an exemplary businessman.
