Citas medievales. Aparece Urarte citado como lugar tributario del monasterio de San Millán de La Cogolla; es nombrado posteriormente en el s. XIII en la carta del obispo Jerónimo de Aznar. En 1218 asimismo aparece citado en el convenio entre Alfonso X de Castilla y las cofradías alavesas.
