Forma parte de la llamada Cadena Costera, que con un recorrido aproximado de 40 km. va desde Hendaya a Zumaia. Los materiales que la constituyen pertenecen exclusivamente al Terciario (areniscas y margas en su mayor parte). Su morfología es festoneada y ondulada.
