Aizkolari de Bidania (Gipuzkoa). Se enfrentó a Jacinto Eguiguren, también de Bidania, en la plaza de toros de Tolosa el 4 de noviembre de 1910. Venció Otegui estableciendo un récord que permaneció durante muchos años: cortó 4 troncos de 90 pulgadas en 64 minutos y 10 segundos.
