Puerto montañoso de 880 m. de altitud junto a las peñas del mismo nombre (1.039 m.) comunicando la cuenca del Nervión con la del Omecillo, aquella atlántica y esta última mediterránea. Une a la comarca de Orduña con la de Miranda de Ebro.
