Prelado de origen vasco, nacido en Ocón (Rioja) a fines del siglo XVI. Profesor de teología en Alcalá. De obispo de Yucatán en 1632 pasó a la iglesia de Cuzco y en Lima fundó los colegios de San Antonio y San Bernardo. En 1651 fue nombrado arzobispo de Charcas.
