Puerto montañoso que comunica a través de un túnel el valle de Yerri con la Barranca navarra y Ergoiena. Escalón descendente de las sierras Urbasa-Andía en el extremo septentrional de las mismas, supera los 1.000 m. para descender en la localidad del mismo nombre a los 589.
