Topónimo bajonavarro citado por el cronista Bizcay en las cercanías de Ahaxe. Hubo una prebenda de este nombre en la parroquia constituida por Alciette y Bascassan (Etat du diocése). En 1789 un Alzu, señor de Libieta, fue recibido en los Estados.
