Valle en el departamento de los Altos Pirineos, regado por el Gave de Pau, cerca de Lourdes en el que desembocan siete valles laterales. Perteneció a los condes de Bigorre fundándose hacia el año 1000 el vizcondado de ese nombre. Muy relacionado con la historia vasca medieval.
