Militar, jefe del cuerpo de Miñones de la Diputación de Bizkaia al iniciarse la guerra de 1936. Fiel a la República, encabezó el gran desfile militar del 19 de julio por la Gran Vía bilbaína. Fue Comandante del Arma de Artillería en el Ejército de Euskadi.
