La institución de la Gota de Leche se fundó en 1904 bajo los auspicios de la Junta de Beneficencia Domiciliaria de Bilbao que funciona en la villa desde 1883. Por acuerdo municipal del 29 de marzo de 1941 se denominaría en adelante "Gota de Leche Doctor Entrecanales".
