Síndico del Señorío de Vizcaya al acaecer la ocupación francesa de 1808. En agosto de este año viajó a Madrid para ofrecer sus servicios a Floridablanca, presidente de la Junta Central Suprema, el cual le encargó el nombramiento de dos representantes vizcaínos para dicha Junta.
