Título nobiliario concedido el 31 de enero de 1624 a Luis Gaytán de Ayala, Padilla y Meneses. En 1845 era titular Cándido Manuel Mª Gaytán de Ayala y Areyzaga, diputado provincial tradicionalista de Guipúzcoa en las elecciones de 1919.
