Militar de origen vasco nacido el 13 abril de 1827 en Saint Martin de Seignanx. Tras una corta carrera en los zuabos, fue condecorado como suboficial. Casó en Bardos (Lapurdi) con Graçy Istil, pasando a ser molinero del molino Huru.
