General. Fue candidato bonapartista frente al republicano Plantié, que le derrotó por 579 votos contra 431 en las elecciones al Senado de 1885 (B. Pirineos). Se había hecho recientemente famoso por una retirada heroica en la guerra franco-prusiana.
