Gainza, Manuel

Gipuzkoan musician. Born in Tolosa on May 18, 1885, he died in Getxo on April 1, 1943.

A disciple of Gorriti and Mocoroa , he was also organist of the Sestao parish church and director of the Trabajo y Cultura choir and the Portugalete Choral Society (1906-1907). His involvement in the choral world is also reflected in the founding of the Biotz-Alai Choir [of Getxo?] in 1926. He also composed works for band and txistu, and was also the author of various harmonies. Several of his compositions and harmonies have been published in the magazine Txistulari.
