This land has belonged to the jurisdiction of the town of Deva, of which it was a village, since ancient times. It therefore lacked a town hall and its own government, its inhabitants being subject to the jurisdiction of said town in all branches of monetary and personal contributions, like all the rest of the town. In the year 1596 the former refused to go to Deva to do the guards that the captain general ordered the maritime towns to have for their security. They went against the mayor of said town with arms, who had to arrest them and prosecute them, in view of the uproar they raised. The general assembly of Tolosa of the same year took notice of this matter, and ordered that those of Arrona be compelled with all rigor to do the aforementioned military service. Due to new disagreements with the town of Deva, this land was separated from it in all temporal matters, being added to the vicinity of Cestona. The deed of agreement for this annexation was granted in Iziar on April 26, 1852 before D. Luis de Macazaga, notary of Deva, which was approved by the general assemblies of Tolosa that same year. It was headed by the Cestona bonfire with the same 18 fires that it had in Deva.

The presentation of the vicarage corresponded to the four full beneficiaries of this town in one of its quarters, and the appointed one had the option of perpetuating in Arrona, or ascending to half and then to full in their turns. The presentation of the beneficiary was made by the same four full beneficiaries of Deba with the individuals of their town council in equal number.
