Aguirre Fernández, Javier

Film director. Born in San Sebastián on 13 June 1935.

Author of more than 40 films, including short films and feature films. In 1956, he joined the Institute of Film Research and Experiences in Madrid. He began his directing career as Eugenio Martín's assistant on Despedida de soltero (1958) and directed his first short film in 1960. In 1967, he began an experimental phase that Javier Aguirre himself called ‘Anti-Cinema,’ while also directing commercial films and television programmes.
