A Guipuzcoan pelotari born in Amezketa on 14 August 1979 , he made his debut on 25 February 2001 at the Beotibar fronton in Tolosa, a venue he has always had a special fondness for. A serious and hard-working pelotari, Saralegi has stood out throughout his professional career for his clean and effective technique.
Among his most memorable qualities among fans is his swift, precise left hook, which he used masterfully to finish off goals. Some matches have become etched in his personal history, such as those played in the Group D playoffs of the 2013 Cuatro y Medio Championship, in which he defeated Urrutikoetxea (22-12) and Tit n III (4-22).
Special mention should be made of the semi-final of that same championship, held at the Labrit fronton in Pamplona against Olaizola II. In that match, Saralegi dominated the scoreboard (16-18), although he ultimately lost 22-18. However, his performance was so outstanding that the crowd sent him off with txapelas and applause.
Saralegi retired in 2015 at the Larrunarri frontn in his native Amezketa, in a highly contested head-to-head against his countryman Altuna III, for whom he is currently the bottle-holder.
His professional record includes a runner-up position in the second-category doubles championship (2010). As an amateur, he won the Torneo Diario Vasco in 1999 and the Torneo Del Antiguo in 1996 and 1997.
Although he remains involved in the world of baseball as a forward for the Garfe company, one of his current hobbies is running.
