At the beginning of the 19th century (1802) it had 3,458 inhabitants. In the present 20th century its demographic evolution has been as follows: 1900: 3,761 inhabitants; 1910: 3,623 inhabitants; 1920: 3,760 inhabitants; 1930: 4,394 inhabitants; 1940: 4,674 inhabitants; 1950: 5,248 inhabitants; 1960: 5,972 inhabitants.
