French Revolution (1995 version)

Period of French history characterized by great political and social changes, paradigmatic specimen of the bourgeois revolution, more liberal than democratic. It is usually circumscribed the opening of the States General (May 5, 1789) and the Coup d'état of 18 Brumaire (November 9, 1799) that brought Napoleon Bonaparte to power. It meant the abolition of the Old Regime, the seigneurial and feudalism and the opening to the capitalist regime and census-based political liberalism. Also a tremendous impact on the history of humanity during the ss. XIX and XX.

To assess its repercussions in the Basque Country, we divided this study into the following sections:

  • FRENCH REVOLUTION (THE REVOLUTION IN THE CONTINENTAL BASQUE COUNTRY)
  • FRENCH REVOLUTION (IMPACT OF THE REVOLUTION IN THE PENINSULAR BASQUE COUNTRY)
