Peréx Agorreta, María Jesús

Historian. Graduate in Geography and History, specialising in Ancient History, from the Complutense University of Madrid and PhD in Ancient History from the same university in 1985.

She teaches courses in Ancient Universal and Spanish History in the Faculty of Geography and History, as well as Ancient and Medieval Spanish History in the Faculty of Philology. She has also taught several PhD courses.

Head of the Department of Ancient History since 2004. In the Faculty of Geography and History of the UNED she has held various positions such as: Secretary of the Faculty, Vice-Dean of Academic Planning and is a member of the Senate of the UNED since 2002. Since January 2011 she is also Dean of the Faculty of Geography and History of the UNED.

She has directed the archaeological work carried out in Espinal (1986-1995) and Ibero (1995).

Her main lines of research are the settlement in the territory of the Vascones in Roman times and the mineral-medicinal and thermal waters and the cult of water in the Iberian Peninsula in Antiquity.

Author of Los Vascones (1986), Guía Didáctica de Historia de España Antigua y Medieval (1999, in collaboration with Enrque Cantera) and Guía Didáctica de Métodos y Técnicas de Investigación Histórica (2005, in collaboration with the teaching staff). He has also written several articles on his speciality in periodicals such as Caesarodunum, Príncipe de Viana, Revista de Arqueología and Trabajos de Arqueología Navarra.
