One of the pioneers of the paper industry in the Basque Country. He was from Durango and started up the first rudimentary mill in Bizkaia, around 1780, in the Roteta forge in Bérriz. He was awarded a patent of merit by the Real Sociedad Vascongada de Amigos del País (Royal Basque Society of Friends of the Country).
