Paco Ibañez .
A singer-songwriter from Gipuzkoa, born in the "Apakintza" farmhouse in Aduna on 20 November 1934, the son of a Basque mother and a Valencian father. At the age of fourteen, he left the Basque Country for Paris. Concerned about the political situation in his country and seeking an incisive means of expression, he began singing accompanied by the guitar, which he learned to play in Paris and at the Chiggiana Academy in Siena with Andrés Segovia. Concerned with finding lyrics with a rich and enduring content, he performed and set to music poems by Lorca and Góngora, recording his first album in 1964. He then recorded songs based on poems by Cernuda, Alberti, Hernández, Blas de Otero, Goytisolo, and others, with the labels Polidor, Phonogram, and Ariola, the former in Paris and the latter two in Madrid. He also appeared in festivals and solo concerts. He is one of our most sought-after artists internationally.
